LUDOMATIC was composed, arranged, produced and recorded at the Producciones Ludiq studio. All instruments on the album were played by Ludo, save for a few percussion tracks played by Ramses Araya, who won a Grammy award for his work with Ruben Blades. It could not have been otherwise; the album was birthed in total creative freedom, from the composition phase through post-production. Ludomatic is pure Ludo, at every stage of the process.
A blend of Blues-Soul guitars with hybrid electro-acoustic drums, live percussion instruments, acoustic piano and Rhodes and Hammond keyboards, Ludo’s songs deal with everyday issues, unrequited love, betrayal, ambivalence, fantasy, illusion, obsession, hypocrisy, duplicity, indifference, false hope; all in an unpretentious voice – crude, sensual, sarcastic – even cruel. Soul (A Chaque Pas) meets slow Blues (Je Dors Bien), Roots (Si Tu Pouvais) and Blues-Rock (T’admirer)… all wrapped in the fresh flavor of Latin percussion and harmony.
The songs wrote themselves, using unorthodox meters (7/4, 5/8…), modal and chromatic melodies and a fusion of genres which, while fluid and natural, is also full of groove and sabor – not to mention listener-friendly, as shown by the public’s reaction to his songs and his style: over 40 000 friends on MySpace, and 25 000 on Hi5.
